Our story and mission
The idea of a local radio station has been tossed around by plenty of Island folks over the years, but it took passion and persistence to get the idea up and running. Thanks to a dedicated volunteer crew, and the cooperation of the Wilson and Carol Trueblood Performing Arts Center, Island Radio launched streaming capabilities in February 2024. Plans for a terrestrial station are in the works, as we move incrementally closer to realizing the full vision of a non-commercial, community-based, independent local low-power FM radio station on our beautiful Washington Island.
The sky's the limit for what this station brings to our community. We are only limited by our imaginations, and look forward to expanding the mission we share with the TPAC:
“.... to provide and maintain a public facility in which creativity may flourish and to encourage public participation and entertainment for the residents and visitors of Washington Island.”
We hope you’ll join us, as a listener, subscriber, donor, volunteer or all of the above.
